Summary:

The Instructional Designer & eLearning Specialist will join a high-performing Learning & Development team, passionate about cultivating and nurturing team member success at AlerisLife and its operating divisions. L&D provides training and development opportunities to all team members, with this specific position holding the primary responsibility for consulting and designing content for live instruction and eLearning training across the organization.

Responsibilities:

Lead design and delivery of training for a diverse networked and non-networked audience with minimal oversight.

The Instructional Designer will report to the Senior Manager of Training & Development and will partner with subject-matter experts and trainers within other areas of the organization to co-develop an industry leading training program that scales to meet the needs of our diverse workforce.

In this role you will act as consultant, designer, and developer for projects across multiple functions. You will develop solutions for orientation, onboarding, leadership development, functional, and compliance driven training. In addition to developing content, this role is responsible for designing assessments to ensure proficiency within each developed program. Every day you will apply experiential and accelerated learning principles to create transformative instructor-led, eLearning, and blended learning experiences. You’ll engage in every step in the design process, from discovery/needs analysis through iterative implementation and evaluation.

EXPECTATIONS

  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to enhance the employee experience throughout the development and delivery of instructional products and programs
  • Align training objectives, content, and assessments with business goals
  • Identify training industry best practices and technology opportunities to ensure our L&D program continues to improve and grow
  • Work collaboratively with the Learning and Development team defining design specifications and instructional strategy for assigned projects
  • Act as the owner of the product’s design, development style, content execution, and instructional standards
  • Develop training materials for instructors, such as online course instructional guides
  • Review and revise PowerPoint presentations from the Chief People Officer in preparation of executive overviews and all hands meetings
  • Participate in the design and integration of Learning and Development best practices into a comprehensive curriculum for each org function; ensure each course can be modularized and marketed to different employee groups as needed
  • Innovate social learning opportunities and drive awareness for collaboration and networking capabilities where resources can share, learn, and develop their skills in a collaborative model
  • Develop cross-functional relationships that allow establishment and management of education plans to proactively implement anticipated changes
  • Prioritize concurrent projects to ensure on-time and accurate delivery of all content
  • Participate in the on-going refinement of team standards and processes
  • Design user-centered learning experiences supported by adult learning theory
  • Create evidence-based designs by conducting qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Flexibly architect iterative design processes to produce quick results for the learner while adapting to constraints
  • Write engaging, error-free learner-facing text
  • Develop visually appealing, interactive training materials using eLearning authoring tools

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree desired; or equivalent education and/or related work experience
  • Authority in adult learning theory and learning design methodologies
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in designing, delivering, and maintaining training programs
  • Skilled in creating eLearning using such tools as Articulate 360/Storyline/Rise, Camtasia, Captivate, InDesign, and other video/audio editing and content development tools
  • Skilled in using learning management systems. Able to design to learning industry standards (SCORM/AICC/xAPI/etc.)
  • Proven experience in designing training materials in a corporate setting
  • Experience with graphic design such as creating logos, branding programs and creating infographics
  • Competent in measurement and evaluation of training initiatives
  • Ability to assimilate and organize content into meaningful training delivered in various media
  • Experience creating onboarding and leadership development training
  • Prior development of e-Learning using Articulate or other authoring software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to write publication-ready learner-facing copy
  • Skillfully builds and maintains productive working relationships with subject-matter experts and design colleagues. Able to influence peers without authority
